Die Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz schreibt zum 15. Juni 2018 fünf Promotionsstipendien aus. Sie sind angesiedelt im Promotionsverbund „Ethnographien des Selbst in der Gegenwart. Optimierungen – Sakralisierungen – Normierungen“ und richten sich an Bewerber*innen mit einem Hochschulabschluss in den am Kolleg beteiligten Fächern. Die Stipendien sind zunächst auf zwei Jahre befristet mit der Option auf Verlängerung um ein weiteres Jahr. Bewerbungsschluss: 15. Mai 2018.
Ihr Profil und Forschungsansatz:
Sehr guter universitärer Hochschulabschluss (Staatsexamen, MA.Ed., M.A., Kirchliches Examen oder äquivalent) in Germanistik, Theologie, Kulturanthropologie/Volkskunde oder in benachbarten Fächern. Interessenschwerpunkt im Bereich literarisch-philosophischer Diskurs, Ethik und Ästhetik, Alltagskultur und Medienwissenschaft.
Folgende Bewerbungsunterlagen sind einzureichen:
· Lebenslauf und Zeugnisse, ggf. Publikationsverzeichnis
· Ein 5-seitiges Exposé zu einem thematisch und methodisch auf das Kolleg zugeschnittenen Promotionsprojekt
· Benennung von zwei Hochschullehrer*innen, die Auskunft erteilen können über die persönliche Eignung und über die wissenschaftliche Qualifikation
· Abschlussarbeit und ein Abstract der Abschlussarbeit (ca. 1 Seite)

The research training group „Ethnographies of the Self in the Present. Optimizations – Sacralizations – Standardizations” at Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, offers scholarships for five doctoral candidates. The starting date is June 15, 2018.
Applicants will have a university degree (MA or equivalent) in one of the subjects relevant to the group. Scholarships are initially limited to two years, with the possibility of a one-year extension. The deadline for submissions is May 15, 2018.
Candidate profile:
An excellent university degree (Staatsexamen, M.Ed., M.A., Ecclesiastical Examination or equivalent) in German Studies, Theology, Cultural Anthropology/European Ethnology, or a neighboring subject. Focus of interest in literary-philosophical discourse, ethics and aesthetics, ethnography, and media studies.
Submission requirements:
· curriculum vitae and certificates
· publication list (if applicable)
· exposé for a dissertation project tailored to the focus of the research training group (about 7 pages, double line spacing)
· two academic references who can provide information on both personal and academic qualifications
· thesis and thesis abstract (about 2 pages)
