Am Seminar für Volkskunde/Europäische Ethnologie des Fachbereichs 08 –
Geschichte/Philosophie – der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster
ist zum 1. Februar 2019 eine W2-Professur für Europäische Ethnologie zu
besetzen.
Die Stelleninhaberin/der Stelleninhaber soll das Fach mit einem
Schwerpunkt im Forschungsfeld Museum und/oder materielle Kultur in Lehre
und Forschung vertreten und entwickeln. Das beinhaltet die Lehre in
englischer und deutscher Sprache in den grundständigen Studiengängen
Kulturanthropologie/Volkskunde (MA) und Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie
(BA).
Er/Sie soll in dem gewünschten Schwerpunkt durch eigenständige
Forschungen in den Feldern Museum und/oder materielle Kultur ausgewiesen
sein.
Erwünscht ist/sind:
– facheinschlägige und internationale Erfahrungen auch im Praxisfeld
Museum und Ausstellung
– innovative Beiträge im Praxisfeld Museum und Ausstellung
– wissenschaftshistorische Kompetenz, um klassische
Sammlungsbestände in der Forschung neu und interdisziplinär zu
positionieren und zu perspektivieren
– innovative Lehrerfahrung, die das Arbeitsfeld Museum und/oder
materielle Kultur mit Studierenden öffentlich sichtbar, empirisch
fundiert und theoretisch reflektiert erschließt (z.B.
Lehrforschungsprojekte, Projektseminare)
Zudem erwarten wir die Bereitschaft, in interdisziplinären
Forschungsverbünden des Fachbereichs 08 sowie der WWU mitzuarbeiten,
sowie die Bereitschaft, den Münsteraner Lehr- und Forschungsstandort des
Faches Europäische Ethnologie/Kulturanthropologie mit Museen und anderen
Einrichtungen der öffentlichen Kulturarbeit in Forschung und Lehre
regional, national und international zu vernetzen.
Einstellungsvoraussetzungen sind ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium,
die besondere pädagogische Eignung sowie die besondere Befähigung zu
wissenschaftlicher Arbeit, die in der Regel durch die Qualität einer
Promotion nachgewiesen wird. Darüber hinaus sind zusätzliche
wissenschaftliche Leistungen erforderlich, die im Rahmen einer
Juniorprofessur, einer Habilitation oder einer Tätigkeit als
wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin oder wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an
einer Hochschule oder einer außeruniversitären wissenschaftlichen
Einrichtung im In- oder Ausland erbracht worden sind.
Die WWU tritt für die Geschlechtergerechtigkeit ein und strebt eine

The Institute of Folklore Studies/European Ethnology (Faculty of History
and Philosophy (FB 08)) of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster
(WWU) invites applications for the position of a full professorship,
starting on 1 February 2019:
Professorship (W2) in European Ethnology
The successful candidate must have extensive experience in the
discipline with a focus on museum and/or material culture in teaching
and research and s/he must develop this focus further. This implies
teaching in German and English in the regular degree programmes of
Cultural Anthropology/Folklore Studies (MA) and Cultural and Social
Anthropology (BA).
The candidate should be highly familiar with the announced focus through
having performed a substantial amount of their own research on museum
and/or material culture.
It is desired that the candidate has:
– international experience in museum and exhibition practice that is
pertinent to the discipline
– made innovative contributions in museum and exhibition practice
– competence in the history and philosophy of science; this is
additionally desired to resituate traditional collections with an
interdisciplinary perspective
– experience with innovative teaching that gives students insight
into working in the field of museum and/or material culture by making
this field visible to the public, approaching it in an empirically
profound way and reflecting its theory (e.g. research seminars, project
seminars).
We expect the successful candidate to be willing to cooperate in
research cooperations within the Faculty of History and Philosophy and
within the WWU. We also expect he/she to have interest in networking in
research and teaching with museums and other institutions of public
cultural and educational work on the regional, national, and
international level.
Conditions of employment are a successfully completed university degree,
pedagogical aptitude and competence in acadernic research, usually
attested by an excellent dissertation. Prerequisites for the application
are further academic achievements made as a Juniorprofessor (assistant
professor), in a Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), or as a
member of the academic staff of a university or a non-university
research institute in Germany or abroad.
