2 Post-Doc Fellowships at the Department for European Ethnology, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Academic personnel, full-time)

Fellowship description

  • Academic participation in Professor Sharon Macdonald’s Alexander von Humboldt Professorship project Making Differences in Berlin: Transforming Museums and Heritage in the 21st Century.
  • Implementation of independently defined research on one or other of the following project themes: Transforming the Ethnographic or Representing Islam.
  • Contribution to the wider research activities of the whole team.
  • Giving support to PhD students working on the same theme.
  • Limited amounts of research-linked teaching.
  • Organizing events.
  • Publication and dissemination of research in international academic conferences and journals, as well as in more publicly-oriented venues and forms.
  • Contribution towards designing a new postgraduate programme in museum and heritage studies.

Qualifications

  • An excellent academic record with relevant undergraduate training and a doctorate in Social Anthropology, European Ethnology or an equivalent discipline that is highly relevant to the project and theme applied for.
  • Published work of an international standard in English or German.
  • High level of competency in English and German.
  • Evidence of initiative and collaboration, such as conference organization or editing.
